This year (2007) the annual SOCIAL PROCESSES AND PERSONALITY conference organized by (in alphabetical order): Institute of Psychology, Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic, Brno; Institute of Psychology , Faculty of Arts, Masaryk University, Brno; Institute of Experimental Psychology, Slovak Academy of Sciences, Bratislava; Institute of Social Sciences, Slovak Academy of Sciences, Košice celebrates the 10th anniversary.

On this special occasion the idea of publishing a new journal SOCIAL PROCESSES AND PERSONALITY in English was born. The on-line journal could work in its early stages of the existence as a medium providing the current outcomes of psychologists from mid-European countries with the focus on social psychology and psychology of personality.

Pages of the up-coming journal are open for all researchers interested in having their papers published in this journal after meeting relevant criteria.

Proved advantages of the on-line journal are considered accessibility, flexibility and communicativeness. We would like to comply with these preconditions as well as with serious reviews and competent decisions of the journal editorial board which should ensure the quality of published papers.

To make first steps of journal publishing more effective the editorial board of the journal will consist of 4 permanent members – representatives of the 4 above mentioned Institutes together with executive and technical redactors and reviewers for each journal number. Also in this case we aim to reach the maximum of flexibility, so the stabile structures during the “start phase” will be created just in the strictly necessary extent.

Although the organisational and administrative tasks as well as the publishing costs are lower in comparison with the printed publications, it was necessary to solve the problem of the equal participation of all founding institutes, especially in the early stage of the publishing. As the best solution we consider „gestory“ of one of the founders for one volume (year) that will lead to rotation of redactor functions in annual cycle.

Journal structure will be as follows: studies, articles, discussions, reviews, news. Opportunity to react to the current topics immediately is expected to be a great advantage of the journal. The journal aims to offer place for presentations of research work outcomes, for scientific discussion as well as for prompt information on current issues. The purpose is to establish a scientific journal for original research studies focused on problems of social psychology and psychology of personality.

We wish to our journal an open access to new communication ways. We wish to journal´ s readers a lot of new knowledge, fruitful discussion and exchange of opinions. We wish to journal´ s contributors an invention and a satisfaction from well done work.
